Its other objectives were to develop a profile and market the region in Europe. The project worked to create new business contacts for the companies and develop their business toward the international market.

During the years over 20 touroperators visited the area in summer and winter. Some new programs and product packages were introduced to them, and during year 2011 some of the companies received their first clients through the project's networks.

The project actively worked to make the area more known in England, France, Germany and Switzerland. Over 20 journalists visted the area, experienced the arctic nature and services from the companies. Besides the media work, the area was promoted to consumers in several international travel fairs.

After the project ends the co-operation continues in forms of business networks.

The project was financed by the municipalities, private companies, Lapin liitto, EU Interreg IV A Nord program.

Watch videos

During winter 2011/2012 there is a great chance to observe the Northern lights, because solar activity is reaching its high point. This autumn, the Northern lights season has already started, and we have had some great nights with spectacular light shows.

The sky needs to be clear in order for the Northern lights to be visible. The Northern lights season is from September to end of March. The probability to see the Northern lights is greater the further up from the Arctic Circle you travel. Whether you decide to book your winter holiday from Muonio, Enontekiö, Kiruna or Northern Norway, the Northern lights will be there. In small villages, there is no light pollution, so you can just walk outside from your cabin or hotel and enjoy the light show around midnight. Welcome to enjoy and experience this arctic magic!
