In a dark winter evening, when the skies are clear and the conditions are favorable, you can enjoy the magical dance of Norhtern Lights. Northern Lights can be observed in the polar regions. These light phenomena result from solar wind flowing past the Earth. In our area, it is quite easy to see the dancing light shapes on the sky with the stars, because we don’t have city lights around here. The best time to observe Northern Lights is from the end of September to the end of March. Usually you can see them in the night time. We organize for example Night Snowmobile safaris and go hunting for the Northern Lights. Another nice way to experience the Norhtern Lights is simply to go for a walk for example with snow shoes. Remember to take a head torch with you!
The Northern Lights have always fascinated people and there is many myths and stories related to their appearance. For example the Saami people have a story telling that it is fox that paints the skies with is tail.
